Severance Agreements

With the downturn in the economy, I am reviewing a lot of severance agreements these days. There are many questions associated with the transition from employment that warrant legal review.

Among these are the release of claims, any non-compete or confidentiality provisions, issues involving unemployment, payment of severance benefits and the impact of the separation on references for future employment.

I schedule a one hour conference for review of severance agreements to address these and other questions. The review includes all pertinent documents, evaluation of potential legal claims that would be subject to release, answering questions, deciding if there are any options to avoid the separation, or to improve on the package. I follow the session with a written advice letter that covers the key points.

The charge for this review, consultaion and advice is $250. I find that people are fully informed and ready to make decisions after the review session.
