Attorney Michele Henry
Shelly's practice focuses on two areas: employment and education law. She represents individuals whose workplace rights may have been violated by their employers. This practice includes cases arising under state and federal wage and hour laws, discrimination laws, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. For these clients, Shelly provides representation in administrative hearings and state and federal courts. Shelly also represents unions, providing day to day advice, representation in arbitrations and hearings and representation before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Shelly also represents students and their parents who are experiencing difficulty with their schools. Her representation includes issues related to civil rights and issues arising under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA).
Education and Background
Shelly earned her B.S. and M.A. in Psychology from Western Michigan University. She worked as a human resources manager for five years before attending law school at the University of Richmond. After earning her J.D., Shelly spent a year clerking for the Honorable Robert C. Chambers in the Southern District of West Virginia. She spent nearly five years at Frost Brown Todd before joining Priddy, Cutler, Miller and Meade in 2008.
Professional and Community Involvement
Shelly is an active member of the Louisville Bar Association, serving as the Chair of the Solo/Small Firm Practitioners group. She is also a member of the Kentucky and American Bar Associations. Shelly is a Girl Scout leader and also volunteers with her children's schools and the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library.
